Directions to S. Stephen's Church

Owing to its central location in the East Side of Providence, there are many different ways of approaching S. Stephen’s by car. The following routes may be simplest and easiest for first-time visitors.
FROM BOSTON, NEW YORK, AND POINTS NORTH AND SOUTH
1.Take Interstate-95 to Rhode Island Exit 22A for Memorial Blvd. 2.Follow signs for Memorial Blvd. 3.Go through 3 traffic lights 4.Make left at 4th light onto Washington St. NB. Washington Street becomes Waterman Street 5.Proceed up the hill through 2 traffic lights 6.Make a right onto Prospect Street. 7.Make a left onto George Street. The Church is ahead on your left.
FROM CAPE COD AND POINTS EAST
1. Take Interstate-195 West towards Providence.
2. Take Rhode Island Exit 2 for South Main Street, and proceed north on South Main Street.
3. Turn right on Planet Street and proceed up the hill.
4. Turn left on Benefit Street.
5. Turn right on George Street. The Church is ahead on your left.
FROM HARTFORD, WORCESTER, SPRINGFIELD, AND POINTS WEST
1. Take either Route 6 or Route 146 into Providence, and follow signs for Interstate-95 South.
2. Follow the directions “From Boston, New York, and Points North and South” above.
Providence is well served by Amtrak trains on the Boston-Washington DC Corridor, as well as by MBTA local trains from Boston (except on Sunday). The Providence Amtrak Station is located at 100 Gaspee Street, about one mile from the Church. There is a taxi rank outside the station.
The nearest airports are Providence’s TF Green (10 miles away), and Boston’s Logan International (53 miles away). There is a bus service between Logan and Providence, and a shuttle service between TF Green and the East Side of Providence.
Peter Pan Buses provide service between Providence and New York, Boston, Logan Airport, and other destinations. The bus terminal is located at 1 Bonanza Way, about three miles from the Church.
Is often difficult, especially on weekdays during the academic year. Brown University parking lots are open to the public on weekends and after 5 pm on weekdays. One such parking lot is two blocks east of the Church at George and Hope Streets. Otherwise, if you circle around, you should be able to find a space within a block or two of the Church.
Several handicapped parking spaces are available on George Street directly across the street from the main entrance to the Church.
