Members of the vestry are automatically members of the usher’s core. This is done, in part, so that the vestry members can meet and greet parishioners and visitors.
Ushers should make best efforts to arrive 15-20 minutes before the service begins.
Please be sure that someone is taking attendance at the service at which you are ushering and that the number is given to Father Alexander at the conclusion of the service. The appropriate form is located in the top draw of the usher’s table. All people attending the service are to be counted, including small children.
***It is imperative that the collection be placed in the safe after it has been counted. Tom Bledsoe and I have the combination.***
Anyone who is unable to serve on the date scheduled is requested to use the current parish list and arrange their replacement from the names listed above or from the list of vestry members.
When you are at a service, particularly one outside the normal Sunday services, look around to be sure there is an usher present. If there is no onethere, please take the initiative to serve as an usher until the person(s) appointed for that service arrive.
Father Alexander has asked that we ask latecomers not to go up the center isle until the procession has reached the rood screen. On days where there is a procession around the church, latecomers may join the procession but are asked not to take seats as the may be taking the seats of people who are processing.
If you know of anyone who wishes to become an usher, please have them contact me or the office.
Thanks to Julia Steiny, we now have a basket in the back of the church to help entertain restless children. If you see new families, let them know we have a nursery. If they decline, let them know about the basket. Please be sure it is returned after the service.
For the Offertory, the gifts are to be brought up during the Antiphon. If the Antiphon has not concluded by the time the gifts are presented, the ushers are to remain at the alter rail until the Antiphon is finished and then turn and take up the collection.
